The name of the vegetable is inspired by the Spanish word 'patata'. There are over a thousand of organic potato varieties cultivated, but not all varieties are used for commercial purposes. in 1995, the space shuttle Columbia took potato plants to space marking it as the first time any food was ever cultivated in space. Organic potatoes are relatively very easy to grow as compared to other crops. They are environmentally friendly and can grow without fertilizers or chemicals and they are grown in over 125 countries.
